Buying Camping Goods in Tokyo
If like many people living in Japan, the idea of camping and or hiking is appealing to you. Then you will probably need to get yourself some equipment. Unless of course you came to Japan with your own gear, but perhaps this could be helpful for picking up a few extras.
If you have spent any time in Tokyo, you will know just how large this city is. You could spend hours walking, taking the subway, or riding on a bus wandering around trying to find a specific kind of shop in any area can be difficult and time consuming. Which is not much use if you are a tourist with limited time to spend.
So here I will give you a few locations where you can purchase equipment for a camping holiday.
One of the easiest to find is the L-Breath store in Shinjuku. Start from the South Exit of Shinjuku Station, walk down the stairs, the is a large green pachinko building near the bottom of the stairs. You want to turn right and walk through an underpass the L-Breath shop should be the first thing you see once you reach the other side. Since you are already in the area you might want to also check out the Tokyu Hands nearby, as they might have some goods you are looking for. To get there continuing walking down the same street you were on to get to L-Breath. You will see the huge Takashimaya building on your right hand side, keep walking along pavement until it curves to the right and you will be at the Tokyu Hands, there should be a sign before the road turns, so its very easy to find.
Another option is the ICI-Sports shop in Harajuku. It is very close to the Omotesando exit in Harajuku station. Simply come out of the station at that exit, cross the street, turn too your left and walk a few feet the shop is at the bottom of an oddly shaped apartment building. If you exit from Harajuku station from the Takeshita Dori exit. Then cross the road and turn right and walk along for a couple of minutes and you will find it.
I hope this is useful to some of you. Happy camping in Japan.
