An Interesting Camping Location

While doing some of research looking for a subject for this article, I came across a website for what looks to be an excellent “hidden gem” camping location.

Located on Shodoshima island (小豆島) is an island located in the Inland Sea of Japan.

The name means literally “Island of Small Beans”. There are two main towns on the island: Tonoshō and Shōdoshima, comprising the district of Shōzu. The island was the first area of Japan to successfully grow olives, and is sometimes known as “Olive Island”.

Dutch Pancake Camping appears to be a intimate, warm and welcoming location for a camping stay.  It’s a family run business where the camp ground is actually in the garden of their hand built Dutch style home. The pictures of the building of the house itself are well worth a look.

In the nearby the campsite you will find the following:

The Sun Olive Onsen, a recently opened hot water spring that is only a 3 minute walk from the camp grounds.

Olive Beach about two minutes by car, it is one of the main beaches to be found on Shodoshima. In summer there are beach houses. Dutch Pancake Camping offer a free pickup service to and from the beach.

Marine Sports: The Key West Club on Olive Beach allows you the opportunity to engage in some adrenaline-pumping outdoor events, like water skiing, jet skiing and a banana boat.

Olive Park: A short five minute walk will bring you to the park where you can find, tennis courts, a playground with slide, jungle-gym, swings and a small cable slide.

There is much more information on their website, check out the link below.
